Juvederm is an injectable dermal filler based on naturally occurring hyaluronic acid. Juvederm injection is used to fill fine lines and wrinkles. Juvederm relies on this substance as it is responsible for hydrating and smoothing skin. As the body ages it loses the ability to produce hyaluronic acid and as a result skin will wrinkle and lose its fullness. Juvederm replenishes these diminished substances and returns the skin and facial areas to a more youthful appearance. Juvederm is also used in the lips, facial wrinkles and folds from the nose to the corner of the mouth. This non-invasive procedure is done while you are awake and is virtually pain free with the use of local or topical anesthetic. Approved by the FDA in 2006, Juvederm injections have risen up the ranks of commercial facial rejuvenation products, both for its success in wrinkle removal and lip augmentation. it is manufactured by Allergan, the makers of BOTOX Cosmetic. While Juvederm lasts longer than both Botox, it is a temporary fix to fine lines and wrinkles. Original Juvederm will last up to 6 months, while Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra Plus can last up to one year. The procedure takes less than an hour of time and is performed by Dr. Marc Epstein. Requiring little or no downtime, patients can return to normal activities almost immediately. Juvederm Injections Procedure

Juvederm comes packed in a sterile syringe, ready to be administered. The areas to be injected are numbed with a topical anesthetic cream prior to treatment, for the comfort of the patient. Juvederm injections are administered by Dr. Epstein in his Harrison, NY office and injections can take 15 to 30 minutes. Dr. Epstein injects Juvederm directly into the skin using an ultrafine needle for minimum discomfort. A topical numbing cream or locally-injected anesthetic cream may be used. Once the treated area is numbed, Juvederm is injected directly into the skin slowly and safely in small amounts. The gel produces volume under the wrinkle, which is lifted up and smoothed out. You can expect to see results immediately. Juvederm injections can be combined with other plastic surgical procedures.
