Perlane®

Perlane injections flattens deep folds in the cheeks and chin. It can also be used to smooth deep wrinkles and scars and augment lips. Perlane® is composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that already exists in the body. The hyaluronic acid in Perlane is a crystal clear gel that is chemically cross-linked to delay breakdown by skin enzymes. It is non-animal-based and free from animal protein. This quality prevents disease transmission. Allergy pre-testing is not necessary. Perlane can be combined with BOTOX® or Restylane®, depending on the degree of work needed, the number of target sites and site locations. Perlane can safely add volume to any area of the face or body, and is often used to make lips a little fuller. When injected, this form of hyaluronic acid binds with water in your skin, adding volume to plump the skin. It has been used in over 1.4 million treatments in the U.S. and is available in more than 70 countries. Dr. Epstein MD offers Perlane injections in Harrison, NY and Westchester County, NY areas.Perlane injections
perlane Injections Procedure

Perlane injections are administered by Dr. Epstein in his Harrison, NY office and injections can take 30 to 45 minutes. Dr. Epstein injects Perlane directly into the skin using an ultrafine needle for minimum discomfort. A topical numbing cream or locally-injected anesthetic cream may be used. Once the treated area is numbed and cleansed with alcohol, Perlane is injected directly into the skin slowly and safely in small amounts. Restylane vs Perlane

Perlane is produced by the same manufacturer as Restylane and uses the same chemical constituent, hyaluronic acid, commonly found in all human tissue, where it provides volume and fullness to skin. The main difference between Restylane and Perlane is that Perlane lasts a little longer before it’s absorbed back into the body.
Side effects of Perlane

Perlane is a safe treatment with very few risks. Patients may experience swelling, itching, redness, or tenderness in the treated area. These conditions are not serious and should go away in about 3-7 days. Swelling may take longer to dissolve for lip injections. With any injection there is a risk for a bruise at the injection site. It is recommended to avoid taking aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. Johns Wort and high doses of Vitamin E supplements for one week after treatment. These may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site. You can return to work immediately and engage in normal activities.
